Director of Operations
The operational backbone of BeCurious — three branches, one standard
Full-time · Kuwait City
Reporting to: General Manager

About Becurious Preschool:
https://becurious.odoo.com/jobs/director-of-operations-47

BeCurious is a premium Finnish-method preschool operating across three branches in Kuwait — Salam, Shuhada, and Salwa. Founded on the principle that curiosity is the most powerful force in early childhood learning, BeCurious has built a proprietary curriculum framework, a structured operating system, and a community of families who choose us for the quality of thinking behind everything we do.
We are growing. We are building. And we are looking for the person who will run the engine.

The Role:
  • The Director of Operations is the operational backbone of BeCurious.
  • This is not a coordination role. It is not a support role. The DOO is the person who makes sure that every session in every branch is delivered at the BeCurious standard — consistently, day after day, across all three locations.
  • The DOO sits between the General Manager (who sets direction and owns the brand) and the Branch Supervisors (who run daily operations). Everything that matters operationally flows through this role.
  • This role is right for you if you have a genuine love for early childhood education, a precise and organized mind, and the ability to hold a high standard without rigidity. You must be comfortable holding people accountable with warmth — not through fear, and not by doing their job for them.

Responsibilities:
  • Operations — Three Branches, One Standard:
  • Own the daily operational standard across all three branches — Salam, Shuhada, and Salwa.
  • Conduct monthly Branch Reviews with each Branch Supervisor (08.1) — reviewing KPIs, flagging patterns, agreeing action plans.
  • Ensure every SOP in the BeCurious OS is being followed at branch level — and escalate deviations immediately.
  • Manage the scheduling system — session allocation, teacher assignment, Home Preschool routing during continuity periods.
  • Own the Feedback Log (08.4) — capture, categorize, and respond to all feedback across branches.
  • Lead the Quarterly SOP Review (08.2) with the GM — identifying what is working, what needs updating, what needs a rebuild.
  • Ensure branch readiness for Ministry inspections at all times — not just before announced visits.
Team and Teaching Quality:
  • Line manage Branch Supervisors — three direct reports. Support them. Challenge them. Hold them to the standard.
  • Ensure all teaching staff are progressing through the Teacher Training Framework (02.1) at the required pace for their role.
  • Conduct or coordinate classroom observations at minimum once per quarter per branch (03.8 Classroom Observation Guide).
  • Own the teacher evaluation process (04.3) — ensure evaluations are completed on schedule and that feedback leads to action
  • Identify teaching staff who are ready to grow and flag them to the GM. Identify those who are struggling and build a support plan.
  • Ensure no teacher leads a session alone without completing the required training stage for their role.
Admissions and Enrollment:
  • Own the admissions pipeline across all branches in Odoo — lead stages, conversion rates, follow-up discipline.
  • Oversee the Admissions Coordinator role — review their performance, support their work, escalate decisions that require GM involvement.
  • Monitor enrollment capacity across branches — flag when a branch is approaching capacity or running below target.
  • Ensure every family completing a tour receives a structured follow-up within the required SOP timeframe.
  • Review lead-to-tour and tour-to-enrollment conversion rates monthly — identify patterns and surface them to the GM.
Curriculum and Learning Quality:
  • Ensure monthly theme plans are submitted by Lead Teachers on schedule and reviewed before the month begins.
  • Ensure weekly planning documents (03.3) are completed and filed — not treated as optional paperwork.
  • Monitor child observation records (03.7) for consistency and quality — flag teachers who are not completing them.
  • Ensure the Curiosity Lens Framework is visible in classroom practice — not just in documentation.
  • Coordinate with the GM on curriculum development priorities for the year.
Governance and Reporting:
  • Attend the Weekly Leadership Meeting every Monday — present the Weekly Scorecard (09.3) and surface decisions that require GM input.
  • Ensure the OS Change Log (00) is updated whenever an SOP, template, or standard is modified.
  • Manage incident documentation — ensure every incident has a completed 07.5 Incident Report filed within 24 hours.
  • Maintain the staff register in Odoo — civil IDs, health certificates, first aid certifications current for all staff at all times.
  • Support the GM in preparing for the Annual Blueprint Review (08.3) — compiling the years evidence and identifying structural questions.

What This Role Is Not:
  • The DOO does not teach classes. This is a leadership and operational role.
  • The DOO does not bypass Branch Supervisors to manage teachers directly — the chain of command is respected in both directions.
  • The DOO does not make brand decisions — that is the GM's domain. The DOO executes brand standards. They do not change them.
  • The DOO does not have financial signing authority above the limits in the authority matrix (04.0). Spending decisions above those limits go to the GM.
  • The DOO's job is to make the standard work at scale. Not to be liked by everyone. Not to avoid difficult conversations. To make BeCurious excellent, consistently, across three branches.

You Are the Right Person If:

You will thrive in this role if you | This role is not right for you if you:
  • Have genuine experience in early childhood education or school operations — at least 4 years | Are looking for a purely administrative or desk-based role.
  • Have managed a team before and understand that management means accountability, not friendship | Expect to be liked by everyone you hold to a standard.
  • Are organized to a degree that other people find remarkable — you track details without being reminded | Find systematic documentation burdensome rather than protective.
  • Can hold a high standard with warmth — you challenge people without humiliating them | Prefer to avoid difficult conversations until they become crises.
  • Are bilingual Arabic-English — you operate at full professional quality in both languages | Cannot communicate fluently and professionally in Arabic.
  • Believe that curiosity in children is worth protecting — this is not a generic school for you | See early childhood as a stepping stone to a different field.
  • Understand that a system is what makes quality scalable — and you want to build that system | Prefer to rely on improvisation and personal judgment over documented process.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in early childhood education, preschool management, or educational operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team — minimum 3 direct reports.
  • Bilingual Arabic and English — professional fluency in both.
  • Practical experience with a school management system (Odoo, Brightwheel, or equivalent).
  • Based in Kuwait or able to relocate immediately — this is a full presence role across three branches.

Strongly Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with Finnish or play-based education methodology.
  • Experience leading or contributing to a curriculum quality review process.
  • Experience with the Kuwait Ministry of Social Affairs licensing and inspection process.
  • Demonstrated track record of improving operational consistency in a multi-site environment.

What BeCurious Offers:
What You Get | Detail:
  • A real leadership role | Not a coordinator title with manager responsibilities. The DOO has genuine authority and is expected to use it.
  • A built operating system | BeCurious has a documented OS — SOPs, templates, review cycles, governance. You are inheriting a system and improving it. You are not building from nothing.
  • Direct access to the founder | Weekly leadership meeting with the Strategic Head and General Manager. Your voice shapes what BeCurious becomes.
  • A curriculum you can believe in | The Curiosity Lens Framework is a genuine educational philosophy. This is not a franchise curriculum or a generic play programme.
  • Compensation | Competitive, commensurate with experience. Discussed at the offer stage.
  • Growth | As BeCurious grows — more branches, Club, Camp — the DOO role grows with it. The person who builds the operational foundation at this stage has a significant role in the next one.

How to Apply?
Send your CV and a short cover note (no more than one page) to the BeCurious HR Lead. In your cover note, answer one question: 'What does operational excellence look like in an early childhood setting, and how have you contributed to it?'

We do not require a formal cover letter. We require a genuine answer to that question. Applications without a response to the question will not be reviewed.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

  • First stage: written review of CV and cover note.
  • Second stage: structured conversation with the General Manager.
  • Third stage: structured conversation with the Strategic Head.
  • Final stage: offer and reference check.

We move fast for the right person.
